Lakeside Resort

Set within a lakeside resort recognized as a FireSmart community, this project was guided by three priorities: form, function, and future.

To create a luxurious retreat within the resort, the design includes shaded areas for afternoon naps with lakeshore views, an expansive seating area with a custom Corten steel fire bowl, a 10-person hot tub for entertaining or intimate evenings under the stars, hammocks, and a cabana. Curated resilient site furnishings were chosen for their timeless beauty.

To create interconnected gathering spaces, the design features two dining areas for 10–12 guests, a bar, an outdoor kitchen, covered-patio and pergola living areas, expansive fireside seating, and a multipurpose bocce court. A gabion curb creates an infinity-edge effect from the property to the lakeshore below.

To reuse the existing concrete patio while reducing wildfire risk from the surrounding forest, the design incorporates lower-risk materials, including varied stone in the landscape and hardscape. A custom timber pergola is protected by a misting system, while landscape lighting creates ambience and follows Dark Sky principles to preserve the spectacular night sky.
